Low Speed 2-stroke Diesel Engine
About Low Speed 2-stroke Diesel Engine
This is an engine that carries out one cycle consisting of scavenging (intake), compression, combustion, and exhaust, for 1 crankshaft revolution, or 2 piston strokes.
Advantages
As explained above, because 2-stroke diesel engines carry out the cycle of scavenging (intake), compression, combustion, and exhaust during 1 crankshaft rotation compared to 2 crankshaft rotations for 4-stroke diesel engines, they are able to produce the same output with a light weight and compact size.
These engines have a longer stroke and lower revolution speed through the adoption of a crosshead design and were designed for low fuel oil consumption in order to demonstrate their capabilities well when used for continuous operation in high-output areas.
