S30ME-B9 and S35ME-B9
Fuel injection is carried out through electronic control, and the exhaust valve is opened and closed by a cam, but the timing for closing the valve is controlled electronically only in areas of high load. This electronic control allows fuel injection to be optimized for each part-load area, reducing fuel oil consumption and improving performance during low-load operation. Not only fuel oil consumption, but emissions of CO2, NOx, and PM are also reduced. These engines are equipped as a standard feature with alpha lubrication systems, which can reduce the consumption of cylinder oil.

Development background
While maintaining the output and revolution speed of the L35MC6 engine which is used in large domestic coastal vessels, these engines were developed as environmentally-friendly models.
Reasons for selection by customers
They are selected by customers due to their electronic control even during continuous operation in high-output areas which makes it possible to improve fuel efficiency, and because the S30ME-B9 is easy to plan for as an alternative to the L35MC6 engine.
