About Medium Speed 4-stroke Diesel Engine
Generally, engines with a revolution speed of 300 to 1,000 min-1 are positioned as medium speed engines. However, the actual definitions are that engines which do not require a reduction gearbox are defined as low speed engines, and those that do require it are defined as medium speed engines.
Advantages
This engine is lightweight and compact with respect to its output, so it is effective for use in rigging and has a tendency to be lower in cost than low speed engines with the same output. In addition, because this engine also has the advantage of being able to freely select the propeller speed through a reduction gearbox, it is suitable for use as the main engine in special types of vessels, such as fishing vessels, tug boats and ferries.
