Side thruster
Side thrusters move vessels in sideward directions. They are propulsion equipment mounted on either the bow or stern of a vessel, and are used when approaching or leaving piers.
Based on a business partnership with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, we have begun production of Hanshin-Kawasaki side thrusters which are available for sale in three models with thrust values from 4.7 t to 7.9 t.
Advantages
- Side thrusters apply a controllable pitch system and can perform control with a step-less tracking method from zero to maximum thrust by operating propeller blade angle dials.
- As the thruster tunnel is shorter, our side thruster can be mounted closer to the edges of hulls to obtain a large turning moment.
- They apply skewed propellers, preventing imbalances between the left and right sides while keeping high efficiency and achieving reduction of noise.
- The thruster main body and propeller blades can be removed in the thruster tunnel for easier maintenance.
- When orders for a main engine, propeller, and side thrusters are received all together, plans to increase the total efficiency can be made. Particularly when joystick control is applied, it will be possible to bring out the maximum capacity of all equipment.
