LH and LH-L Series

LH Series

This series was developed with the goals of improving reliability, reducing fuel oil consumption, and achieving a compact size. It has been simplified by shortening the cylinder pitch and locating the maneuvering handle and attached pumps on the stern side to make it lightweight and compact. Furthermore, the bow power takeoff has been located on the engine face to shorten the overall length of the engine bow face, the framework and cylinder have been unified, and the intake air manifold and main cooling water inlet piping have been integrated on the cylinder frame.

LH-L Series

Based on the LH model engine, the stroke was made longer, and in order to improve the thermal efficiency, the maximum cylinder combustion pressure was increased and improvements were made to strengthen its component parts. Since its revolution speed is low, it is well-suited to directly connected engines not equipped with a reduction gearbox.

Also, the 3 LH38L, LH41L, and LH46L models can be selected to use a hydraulic valve driving system or the conventional push rod valve driving system. Models with a bore larger than 340 mm use an L-save ring, which can prevent wear of the liner cylinder wall surfaces caused by hard carbon, and can suppress increases in lubrication oil consumption.

About LH and LH-L

LH

Low-Speed Hii-efficiency
High-efficiency low speed engines

LH-L

Low-Speed Hii-efficiency-Long stroke
Low speed engines with high efficiency due to their long strokes

Development background

Small 1,200 to 1,400 engine horsepower engines used as main engines for 499G/T class general cargo vessels, tankers, and fishing vessels are required to have low fuel oil consumption and in particular to be compact and lightweight, since there is limited space in engine rooms and a small number of crew members compared to large vessels. The LH series was developed in order to respond to these needs by applying the Company's past performance results and experience.

The LH-L is the LH model modified to have a longer stroke.

Reasons for selection by customers

In addition to low fuel oil consumption, low vibration, and low noise, they are selected by customers also because of the trust they have earned as long-selling products with over 30 years since their release.

What types of vessels are the engines suitable for?

They are suitable for domestic coastal vessels with low and medium load use, and large fluctuations in load.
